About this test
The Enneagram is a personality tradition that describes nine recurring patterns of motivation: nine different answers to the question of what matters most, what to watch out for and how to stay safe, loved or at peace in the world. Where some tests describe what you do, this tradition is interested in why — the quiet driver underneath your habits, the one that still runs the show on tired, stressful, autopilot days.
This test presents 27 everyday situations — a free day, a mistake, a conflict, a compliment — and for each one, four responses written for four different patterns. Your answers add up across all nine types, and the pattern you choose most often is your result. Because real people are never only one pattern, the test also shows your second-strongest result as a blend, and your full split across all nine.
Who is it for? Anyone curious about their deeper defaults: why the same kind of situation keeps tripping you up, why certain compliments land and others miss, and what your particular flavour of growth looks like. It is a mirror for self-reflection and conversation — not a clinical instrument, and it does not try to be one.
How scoring works
Each of the 27 questions offers four answers, each written for a different one of the nine patterns, and the options rotate so every pattern appears in every position across the test. Every pattern is offered exactly twelve times in total. Picking an answer adds one point to its pattern. There are no right or wrong answers and no pattern is better than another — each has its own gifts and its own growth edge.
At the end, your points are tallied and shown as a split across all nine patterns. The highest score is your primary pattern — the driver that shows up most in your answers — and the second-highest is shown as your blend, the influence that flavours how your primary pattern behaves. If your top scores are close, that is meaningful too: many people genuinely run two patterns side by side, and reading both descriptions will usually confirm it.

The result types
The Straight Arrow
You are guided by a strong inner sense of how things should be. Straight Arrows notice what is wrong — in a process, a plan, a sentence, a situation — and feel a genuine pull to improve it. You hold yourself to high standards, sometimes higher than anyone asked for, because doing things properly is not about praise for you. It is about being able to respect your own work.
Full The Straight Arrow guide →The Warm Giver
You are tuned to people the way others are tuned to news. Warm Givers notice who is tired, who feels left out and who needs a hand before anyone says a word, and helping is not a duty for you — it is where you feel most yourself. Your generosity is warm, personal and hands-on, and your relationships are the centre of your life, not a side project.
Full The Warm Giver guide →The Rising Star
You are built to achieve. Rising Stars set a target, organise their energy around it and get a genuine thrill from progress you can point to — the finished project, the won opportunity, the level reached. You are adaptable and pragmatic, skilled at reading a room and becoming what a situation needs. To you, a life well lived is a life that goes somewhere.
Full The Rising Star guide →The Rare Bloom
You experience life from the inside out — vividly, personally and at high resolution. Rare Blooms are seekers of identity and depth: you want to know who you really are, you feel what others feel, and ordinary or borrowed lives quietly suffocate you. You may have long felt a step apart from the crowd, as if everyone else got a manual you never received. That apartness, tended well, becomes originality.
Full The Rare Bloom guide →The Deep Well
You are a quiet gatherer of understanding. Deep Wells observe before acting, read before opining and think before speaking — and when you do speak, people lean in, because your words have usually been somewhere deep and come back useful. Knowledge is not showing off for you; it is how you feel safe and capable in the world. Your inner life is rich, private and very much your own.
Full The Deep Well guide →The Loyal Anchor
You are the person who thought about what could go wrong — so everyone else did not have to. Loyal Anchors are security-minded, dutiful and deeply committed: you scan ahead for risks, prepare for the plausible ones and then stand by your people and your promises without drama. Trust is not a slogan for you. It is a practice, renewed daily.
Full The Loyal Anchor guide →The Joy Rider
You are oriented toward the good stuff: new experiences, open doors, laughter and whatever is next. Joy Riders are optimistic, quick-minded and genuinely hard to keep down — a closed door sends you looking for a window, a roof hatch and a scenic route. Being boxed in is your one true phobia; freedom, variety and momentum are your natural habitat.
Full The Joy Rider guide →The Bold Oak
You are built to withstand weather — and to shelter others from it. Bold Oaks are strong, direct and protective: you take charge when a situation needs a spine, you say what others are circling around, and your people know exactly where to stand when trouble arrives. Vulnerability is your least favourite country, especially your own — you would rather carry the weight than be seen struggling under it.
Full The Bold Oak guide →The Calm River
You keep the temperature down wherever you go. Calm Rivers are easy-going, patient and deeply averse to needless conflict: you listen to every side, find the workable middle and help people flow around obstacles instead of breaking on them. Your own agenda is real but quietly held — sometimes so quietly that even you lose track of where it went.

How accurate is this enneagram test?
It is a carefully built self-reflection tool, not a clinical measurement. The nine patterns describe real, recognisable differences in motivation, and most people recognise their primary pattern quickly — especially in the watch-outs. Accuracy improves when you answer as you usually are on an ordinary week, rather than as your best self or your worst day. Treat a close second score as part of the answer, not an error.
Can I have more than one type?
You have one primary pattern, but everyone is a blend in practice. Your result shows your full split across all nine patterns and names your runner-up, because the second pattern flavours the first in ways people who know you will recognise. If your top two scores are very close, read both descriptions — the truth is usually the combination.
Is this a medical or psychological diagnosis?
No. This test is for entertainment and self-reflection only. A personality pattern describes everyday motivations and habits; it is not a diagnosis of any condition, and no result here should be used for medical, psychological, hiring or other serious decisions about anyone.
Are my answers private?
Completely. The test runs entirely in your browser: your answers are never sent to a server, never stored in an account and never shared. Closing the tab clears everything. Our privacy page explains this in full.
Why did I get a different result than on another site?
Different sites write different questions, use different type names and weight answers differently, so results do not transfer directly between them. Your answers can also shift with mood, age and life stage — most people answer a little differently in a crisis month than in a calm one. If the result feels wrong, retake it answering for your long-term usual self, the person your oldest friends would describe.
What should I do with my result?
Use it as a lens, not a label. Read your pattern's strengths and watch-outs, notice which ones people who know you would confirm, and try one growth suggestion for a week. The result is especially useful in conversation: comparing patterns with a partner or close friend explains a surprising amount of everyday friction, because you can finally see what each of you has been optimising for all along.
