About this test
The Personality Types Test sorts your style across four dimensions that describe how you take in energy, information, decisions and time: Bright or Still, Grounded or Visionary, Tender or Logical, Planned or Flowing. Your strongest pole on each dimension contributes one code, and the four codes together name one of sixteen types — each with its own strengths, watch-outs and way of seeing the world.
This is TestLark's own model, designed for this site. It was built to be recognisable and useful: the four questions it asks about a person — where does your energy come from, what do you trust, how do you decide, how do you pace yourself — are the questions friends, families and teams actually wonder about each other. The type names, from Trail Captain to Starlight Drifter, were written for this model and describe blends you can discuss without any training.
Who is it for? Anyone curious about their default settings, anyone choosing work or study that should fit how they actually operate, and any team or household that wants a friendlier language for its differences. It is a mirror for self-reflection and conversation — not a clinical instrument, and it does not try to be one.
How scoring works
Each of the 24 questions offers two answers, one written for each pole of a single dimension — six questions per dimension, spread through the test. Picking an answer adds one point to its pole. There are no right or wrong answers: every pole is a strength in the right setting, and the test simply counts which way you lean most often.
At the end, each dimension compares its two tallies and the stronger pole contributes its code, building your four-code result in the order energy, perception, decisions, pace. Your result page also shows how close each dimension was: a 6–0 sweep is a strong lean, while a 3–3 split means you sit near the middle of that dimension and will recognise yourself in both poles — and probably in the neighbouring type that differs only there.

The result types
The Trail Captain
You lead from the front with practical sense and a clear plan. Bright energy puts you at the head of the group, Grounded judgement keeps your feet on real terrain, Logical decisions keep the route fair, and a Planned pace means everyone knows the next stop. People follow you because the way you lead actually works.
Full The Trail Captain guide →The Quick Fixer
You are the person people call when something breaks, stalls or goes sideways. Bright and sociable, Grounded in what is actually in front of you, Logical under pressure and happy to improvise, you would rather try a sensible fix now than schedule a meeting about it. Few types learn as fast from real life as you do.
Full The Quick Fixer guide →The Gathering Keeper
You are the warm organiser at the heart of your circle. Bright with people, Grounded in the practical details that make gatherings actually happen, Tender in how you look after everyone's comfort, and Planned enough that the food, the timing and the seating all quietly work. People feel looked after around you — because they are.
Full The Gathering Keeper guide →The Warm Welcomer
You make people feel at home within minutes of meeting you. Bright and expressive, Grounded in real life rather than big theories, Tender toward everyone's feelings and happily Flowing with whatever the day brings, you are the friend who turns strangers into guests and guests into regulars. Spontaneity suits you — warmth is your plan.
Full The Warm Welcomer guide →The Grand Planner
You think in whole campaigns. Bright enough to rally people around an idea, Visionary enough to see the destination years out, Logical enough to build the reasoning step by step, and Planned enough to turn it all into a timeline — you are the architect of group ambitions. Few types connect 'one day' to 'next Tuesday' as fluently as you do.
Full The Grand Planner guide →The Bold Pitcher
You are an ideas engine with a persuasive streak. Bright and quick, Visionary to your core, Logical enough to argue your case and too Flowing to wait for perfect conditions, you spot the opportunity, pitch it with energy and figure out the details in flight. Rooms get more ambitious when you walk into them.
Full The Bold Pitcher guide →The Movement Maker
You gather people around something that matters. Bright and compelling, Visionary about the world as it could be, Tender in your care for the people affected, and Planned enough to build real structure under the dream, you turn shared values into organised action. People do not just agree with you — they show up for you.
Full The Movement Maker guide →The Spark Storyteller
You light up rooms with imagination and heart. Bright and expressive, Visionary in the connections you see, Tender in how deeply you care about the people in the story, and Flowing enough to follow wherever a conversation wants to go, you turn ordinary moments into tales people retell. Your enthusiasm is not noise — it is how you think and how you love.
Full The Spark Storyteller guide →The Precision Maker
You build things properly. Still and focused, Grounded in materials and facts, Logical in your methods and Planned in your process, you take quiet pride in work that is accurate, durable and honestly made. You do not need an audience — the quality of the finished thing is its own applause.
Full The Precision Maker guide →The Calm Tinkerer
You figure things out by taking them apart. Still and self-contained, Grounded in how things actually work, Logical in your experiments and Flowing in your process, you follow curiosity wherever it leads — a fixed engine, a new technique, a better way. Your calm is not idleness; it is concentration with the volume turned down.
Full The Calm Tinkerer guide →The Loyal Keeper
You are the steady heart of your family and circle. Still rather than showy, Grounded in the people and routines that matter, Tender in your care and Planned in how you protect it all, you express love as reliability: remembered details, kept promises, traditions maintained. If you say you will be there, you will be there.
Full The Loyal Keeper guide →The Gentle Wanderer
You move through life gently and on your own terms. Still and reflective, Grounded in simple real pleasures, Tender toward people and creatures alike, and Flowing with the day rather than scheduling it, you find richness in unhurried moments others rush past. Your kindness is quiet — and people remember it for years.
Full The Gentle Wanderer guide →The Systems Thinker
You think in structures and long arcs. Still and independent, Visionary in the patterns you detect, Logical in the models you build and Planned in how you pursue them, you are rarely satisfied with a surface answer. Give you a complex problem and quiet time, and you will return with the map nobody else could see.
Full The Systems Thinker guide →The Idea Cartographer
Your mind is an explorer that never really docks. Still on the outside and endlessly active within, Visionary in your connections, Logical in your analysis and Flowing in your curiosity, you map ideas the way others map countries — completely, for the pleasure of knowing what is out there. Every subject is interesting if you approach it from your angle.
Full The Idea Cartographer guide →The Meaning Keeper
You live by an inner compass that rarely wavers. Still and private, Visionary about what life could mean, Tender in your values and Planned in your quiet commitment to them, you choose depth over noise every time. People sense your integrity before they can explain it — you are the same person in every room.
Full The Meaning Keeper guide →The Starlight Drifter
You follow an inner light rather than a timetable. Still and dreamy on the surface, Visionary in imagination, Tender in your feeling for people and possibilities, and Flowing in your whole approach to life, you find beauty and meaning where others see an ordinary Tuesday. Your inner world is not an escape — it is your home country.

How accurate is this personality types test?
It is a carefully built self-reflection tool, not a clinical measurement. The four dimensions describe real, recognisable differences in how people recharge, perceive, decide and pace themselves, and most people recognise their type immediately — but a 24-question quiz cannot capture a whole person. Answer as you usually are, not as you wish you were, and treat a close dimension as genuinely close rather than as an error.
What if my scores were close or tied on a dimension?
That is common and it means something real: you are flexible on that dimension and use both poles depending on the situation. Your result names the pole that won narrowly, but you will likely recognise yourself in the neighbouring type that differs only on that dimension. Many people keep both descriptions and use whichever fits the setting — work, home, friendship — they are thinking about.
Is this a medical or psychological diagnosis?
No. This test is for entertainment and self-reflection only. A personality type describes everyday preferences and style; it is not a diagnosis of any condition, and no result here should be used for medical, psychological, hiring or other serious decisions about anyone.
Are my answers private?
Completely. The test runs entirely in your browser: your answers are never sent to a server, never stored in an account and never shared. Closing the tab clears everything. Our privacy page explains this in full.
Why did I get a different type on another site?
Other sites use different models, different questions and different type names, so results are not directly comparable — a label from another system does not translate into this one. Your answers can also shift with mood, age and life stage, and near the middle of a dimension a small shift flips the code. If a result feels wrong, retake the test answering for an ordinary week, not your best or hardest day.
What should I do with my result?
Use it as a lens, not a label. Read your type's strengths and watch-outs, notice which ones people who know you would confirm, and compare types with friends or colleagues — the four dimensions give you a friendly vocabulary for differences that usually cause friction. Trying one growth suggestion for a week teaches more than re-reading the description ever will.
